Gnome 2.8

It seems like most folks who are really interested in what’s going on in the Ukraine are getting their information from blogs instead of from reporters. This is as it should be. The AP probably has a bureau in Kiev, as does Reuters. As the Commissar points out, The New York Times might even have a stringer or two in town. But the stories that these reporters are filing just don’t do it for folks who want to know what’s really going on. Info-junkies want the real story, the story on the ground, not the view from the window of the bureau office in the capital.

Sarge rückt näher – d-i rc2

This second Debian-Installer release candidate is expected to be the final release of the installer for Debian 3.1 (sarge). Limited changes have been made to the installer since the pre-rc2 release last month, but there are a few:

* Support for LVM volumes on software RAID.
* Experimental support for installing with the 2.6 kernel on the hppa architecture.
* Lots of improvements to the installation manual, which is now fully translated to Spanish, French, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Czech
* Fixes for most errata items.
* More bug fixes than we care to recall.

Der neue Debian Installer findet sich hier. Mehr dazu im Weblog von Joey Hess, seines Zeichen Maintainer des Debian Installers.
